Our Approach

Today, our work is guided by a few simple principles:

  •  Animal-first handling that respects natural behaviour and emotional states

  •  Tailored care for each animal’s individual needs

  •  Supporting people, not blaming them, when challenges arise

  •  Teaching with compassion, not superiority

Because when animals are misunderstood, they suffer.

And when people feel overwhelmed or unsupported, animal welfare suffers too.

From the moment we started working together, there was a natural rhythm and shared understanding that set us apart. Our calm, intentional approach made us one of the most efficient and reliable duos on the team (and it’s a bonus that we’re genuinely good friends too!)

At its core, our work is about advocacy: for animals who cannot speak for themselves, and for people who care deeply but may feel overwhelmed.

We support, educate, and stand alongside you, creating care practices rooted in  empathy, not expectation.

For a long time, we felt stuck in systems that didn’t align with our values, watching animal welfare take a back seat to convenience and outdated handling methods.  We knew there had to be a better way.

We believed that animal-first handling could create safer, more ethical outcomes for both animals and their handlers. Through patience, careful observation, and a willingness to unlearn what we were told "should work", we developed approaches that prioritise trust over force.

When we left a larger alpaca farm, we took with us some of our favourite, albeit challenging, alpaca. It became the perfect opportunity to put our beliefs to the test.

Lo and behold, our small rescue herd transformed. They showed clear improvements in both welfare and behaviour. That success inspired us to share our approach with the wider alpaca community.
